  Editor's comments:
Party Poker was once the hottest poker site in the world as they were #1 in traffic for years before opting to no longer allow U.S. residents. They still have a great foundation in place for above average tournament and cash ring game action. They still offer many of the same features that made them the #1 online poker brand to begin with, including reliable software, huge tournaments, loyalty program, reload bonuses, fast payouts, and many other perks that keep customers coming back. For these reasons Party Poker earns a 4.50 out of 5.00.

Deposit/Withdrawal Methods

At Party Poker’s cashier page, they have an array of different deposit options, including Paysafecard, EPS, WebMoney, Bancontact, Mister Cash, iDeal, Visa or Master Card, Laser, ClickandBuy, Click2Pay, giropay, Ukash, ewire, EVL Elektronisches, Electronic Transfer, WseMyBank, Switch/Solo/Maestro, PartyPoker Gaming Card, BPAY, Chinese Debit Cards, Moneybookers (may charge a fee), EntroPay VISA, Citadel, Bank Transfer, Bank Wire Transfer. While have a potpourri of different ways to pay, PartyPoker.com no longer allows US residents to play online. That pretty much eliminates my relationship with the site, but it may still work for you. Be careful who you deposit with, because not all of the options allow for a withdrawal, and most all of the withdrawal methods only work if you deposited through them in the first place. The sites that allow for a withdrawal are; WebMoney ($10 min - $10,000 max, no fee), VISA($10 min - $10,000 max, $1 fee), Switch/Solo/Maestro, ($10 min - $15,000 max, no fee) Electronic Transfer($10 min - $10,000 max, $1 fee), Click 2 Pay($10 min - $10,000 max, no fee), Bpay($10 min - $3,000 max, $1 fee), MoneyBookers ($10 min - $3,000 max, no fee), and Bank Wire Transfer($10 min - No max, $2-$10 fee). The shortest wait time before your withdrawal reaches your bank account is within 6 hours of withdrawal from WebMoney. The longest is 3-7 days via electronic transfer. You can also withdraw money by checks and Express Delivery checks. There’s no fee for regular checks, but the wait can take up to 20 days. There’s no fee there, but there is a $50 minimum and a $3,000 maximum. Premium Delivery checks take only 2-3 business days, but cost $25 and have a minimum of $100 and a max of $7,500.

Level of Competition

Party Poker used to be the place where all many inexperienced players could be found. Novice players would make their first ever deposit here, as the site was the biggest and most well known brand in the world. This is still true, although the number of total players has dropped significantly since PartyPoker stopped allowing U.S. players. Hence this site now has an even combination of both new and veteran players. The higher the money at stake, the better the games get, and thus the level of competition at PP can suit anyone’s fancy. PartyPoker stakes claim to the biggest regularly scheduled tournament in the world, the Party Poker Millions.

Limits/Game Selection

PartyPoker.com is the leading online poker room in the world, and thus you will always be able to find the table and game that you are looking for. With many rooms, seats, and games available, it would be hard to want something that isn’t there. The poker tournaments all run very smoothly, but have relatively expensive buy-in options.

Limits include: NL/PL: 25, 50, 100, 200, 400, 600, 1000, 2000 Limit: .50/1, 1/2, 2/4, 3/6, 5/10, 10/20, 15/30, 20/40, 30/60

Games Selection: Hold'em, Limit, No Limit and PL. Omaho and Omaha Hi/Lo; Limit, No Limit and Pot Limit; 7Stud Hi and Hi/lo, Limit

Ring Games: There are so many ring games at PartyPoker, you won’t know what to do with yourself. At all prices and style, you will be able to find your match. The variety is there, and the cash games limits are all listed above in the Limit section.

Tournaments: While they don’t have a large array of small buy-in tournaments, people still seem to love the tournaments at PartyPoker.com, mainly because they always seem to attract very large fields which in turn translates into top-rate payouts. Even tournaments such as a $20+$2 tournament have been known to push out prize money in the $30,000 range, meaning if you win a tournament at PartyPoker.com, you’ll have the cash to show for it. Big Fields also make winning tough to come by, so the high number of players can also be a bad thing. Tournaments include NL Holdem, Omaha, 7 Card Stud and Limit Hold-em. PartyPoker.com also hosts a large amount of WSOP Satellites, the PP Million, has a monthly $1M ($600 + 40) and $500K ($350 & 28) tournaments and weekly $350K ($200+15) and $200K ($200+15) events. All of these special events have direct entry as well as satellite entries, getting you into bigger tournaments and possibly the Main Event. PartyPoker’s newest option gives you a chance to win a spot on a television tournament called the DEN. With all the options, PartyPoker rates out very high in this area. A downside to the PP tournament world is their lack of low buy-in tournaments. No $1, $2, or $3 tourneys are available.

Sit and Go: PartyPoker.com always has plenty of SNG options. The have a ton of single table SNG’s ranging from $5+$1 (commission through to $200+$20) so there are always plenty of games going making the waits very short. Party Poker also has several multi table SNG’s (2 and three table) starting at $5+$1. Many of the multi table SNG’s are tournament Satellite- style that will get you into the next round of larger tournaments like the WSOP, Party Poker Million or the Million Dollar guaranteed tourney.

Software/Graphics

PartyPoker's software is fast, very fast; and drop-outs almost never occur, and when they do, it’s only from 56K modem users. However, if you’re stuck with a less than light-speed connection, you will still find it easy to get a seat as if you see an open seat, PP’s software will reserve it for you for 15 seconds. This will give you the time to actually get your mouse working and sit down. You won’t have the problem of coming in second fiddle to the guy who created high speed, so no worries there. The software supports Netscape and IE users as well as a handful of 3rd party software designed to help you get more bang for your poker game, that are designed around the site's landscape. Some of these are Pokeroffice and Calculatem. The graphics are indeed Old School, and many have complained that they are boring and painfully normal, but I’ll trade speed and reliability for a little guy with a sparkling avatar any day. When I played at PartyPoker, I actually found the sneaky guy with the hat to be my kind of player. You can always download the software and play at the free tables to see if it is to your liking.

Traffic/Availability

Since the new US laws came into effect, there has been a hit on poker rooms that can’t allow US players, like PartyPoker.com. While the laws have cut poker numbers everywhere, sites like PP definitely have been hit the worst. However, there are still plenty of people playing at PartyPoker, as it remains one of the most used online poker sites in the world. If you aren’t a US resident, and you can get in, there are plenty of rooms, deposit options, cash games, beginners, and tournaments to keep you as busy as you would like to be. It remains one of the easiest poker sites to find a room, get into the game of your choice with the limit of your liking.

General Information

PartyGaming has been one of the world's leading online gaming companies since 1997. They currently offer four major gaming areas: poker, casino, bingo and backgammon.

PartyPoker.com is the world’s largest online poker brand as far as the total number of players and overall revenue.

The number of casino games on PartyPoker’s system is amazing, and with their newest system that allows you to play all their casino games from one account, you can easily play any game you want from that one account.

They are licensed and regulated by the Alderney Gambling Control Commission and the Government of Gibraltar. PartyPoker.com’s games are powered by the PartyGaming system which is tested by iTech Labs. All the steps taken are there to ensure that their games operate correctly, are fair, are unpredictable and that the system is reliable, resilient and up to the highest standards.

PartyPoker has some of the best rewards out there. Their PartyPoints, daily bonuses, and gift giveaways makes them one of the best advertisers and user-friendly poker rooms on the market.

The rake varies depending on table size (number of players) and the limit at said table. For $.05/.10 the maximum rake is at its smallest, topping off at $.50. For the bigger tables, a maximum rake is $5.00. No Limit rakes are a little different, but waiver between a $1.00 minimum and a $5.00 maximum.

About PartyPoker.com's Bonus

Basically, PartyPoker is known for their big 1st time deposit promotions and especially for their loyal customer pop-up and email offers, but they are always changing, so putting one up on this site is strictly for an example, as it will most likely not be there when and if you choose PartyPoker for your online card play.

Recently, PartyPoker has offered a promotion that gives you 30% of your initial deposit up to $150. They also are offering an extra $25 bonus on any $50 deposit. Among many other things, they offer options to trade in points for goods, offer attractive reload bonuses, and sometimes even give you cash in your account for being broke.

PartyPoker obviously knows how to get people using their site. Only time will tell how much impact not allowing U.S. players will make on them, but I’m all for a company that continually tries to give me free goods, money, and options to use my accumulated points.
