  Editor's comments:
DoylesRoom is promoted and endorsed by Doyle Brunson – known as one of the most famous poker stars in the world. Brunson actively plays in the bounty tournaments played at his site. DoylesRoom has clean graphics, easy and smooth play, solid promotions, and cash-game and tournament volume is solid during most hours of the day. Doyle’sRoom doesn’t offer game play to US citizens. I give Doyle’sRoom a 4.00 of 5.00.

Level of Competition

DoylesRoom has pretty loose and juicy games – just spend a few minutes looking, and you’ll find them in no time. The small (six players max) tables and turbo games are generally pretty nuts with a viewed-flop percentages right around 55%. The average viewed-flop percentage for 10 player tables is under 40%. For juicy tournament play, look for the “special tournaments” that are offered and almost any tournament with a buy-in on the lesser side of $10.

Limits/Game Selection

There are high-limit tables with $150/$300 stakes in Fixed-Limit, $200/$400 in No-Limit Texas Hold'em and micro-limit tables as low as 2¢/5¢. The absence of Seven-Card Stud Hi-Lo seems strange considering that they spread the High version. The solid player base guarantees action at most game varieties and stakes, making this a nice site for pretty much all players.

Limits: These games are spread from $0.02/$0.05 all the way up to $200/$400 – so the limit options are pretty solid. However, this site doesn’t allow US players, so much of the heavy play rotates around European prime time.

Games Selection:Texas Hold'em, Omaha, Omaha Hi-Lo, Seven-Card Stud, Five-Card Draw and Five-Card Stud. The games vary between No-Limit, Pot-Limit, and Fixed-Limit.

Ring Games: Still somewhat concentrated to Hold'em games, but recently players are showing interest in Omaha and Seven-Card Stud. DoylesRoom is a site with solid ring game traffic at peak hours. As of August, DoylesRoom has a peak cash game traffic of 3,200 real money players.

Tournaments: DoylesRoom hosts many tournaments, buy-ins range from $1 to hundreds of dollars. The tournaments are well-populated and fast, and play is relatively loose. Many of the tournaments are re-buy events, play in the early stages is often very loose – so be sure to know the type of tournament before joining.

DoylesRoom also runs monthly $250,000 guaranteed tournaments that draw huge crowds, and pays out over $50,000 to the winner. There are daily qualifiers running to these tournaments with buy-ins as low as $5.50. They also offer qualifiers to big events like the European Poker Tour, the World Series of Poker and the World Poker Tour. Aside from the guaranteed tournaments, the most popular tournament is the Weekly Bounty Tournament where players earn bounties by beating members of "Team Brunson."

Software/Graphics

Overall, DoylesRoom offers great action, decent diversity and software that plays very well. The software is updated frequently to ensure safety and stability, resulting in very little downtime.

The graphics of the DoylesRoom software are too clean and sparse at times, as DoylesRoom has decided to go for functionality over fancy graphics. Avatars are not used and the felt is a green that is easy on the eyes - distinguishing text and cards is also very easy.

DoylesRoom runs on the Microgaming network, sharing player base and technology. The software is fast, smooth, and reliable, promoting a solid and user-friendly playing experience. Players ca take notes on the opposition during play while the lobby supplies vital table statistics like the viewed-flop percentage, average pot and hands played per hour.

In-game statistics are show how often a player sees the flop, their win percentage and more; there is also a graphic replay of hands that is very useful if you use it right. The DoylesRoom software supports play at eight tables simultaneously. Multi-table play is smooth and can run at full-size or in mini-view setting that makes the game-play better for single screen viewing. The simple graphics give players the information they need without unwanted clutter. Constant updates limit downtime and ensure stability.

Traffic/Availability

Full-table games, short-handed, and heads-up tables are all available. Real money player statistics as of August 2007 show 3,200 ring-game players at peak hours, and 30,000 tournament players at peak hours. Its pretty easy to get a game at DoylesRoom any time during the day, but even easier at prime European times, as US players no longer are allowed.

General Information

DoylesRoom started offering poker in 2004, and was very successful in attracting players with Doyle Brunson’s endorsement. The bulk of those players were American, so the passing of the UIGEA late last year struck the site very hard as a huge portion of its player base was lost by the new American online gambling laws.

Now that it's on the Microgaming network, however, (moving from the Tribeca network in 2006), the site once again promises solid traffic, a wide game variety and an extensive range of table limits. The software provides very useful stats as well as three different table sizes: large, normal and mini view. The graphics are "old school," with a wood grain feel, but there is never any problems with game-play, which I think everyone can appreciate. The functions are easy to use.

The rake at DoylesRoom is on right their with the rest of the industry. DoylesRoom uses a fixed schedule for its rake, based on the table limit and number of players. Rakes are usually 5% of the pot with a max rake of between $1 and $3, depending on the number of players at the table. DoylesRoom offers a type of progressive rake rebate at smaller limit tables, taking between 1¢ and 7¢ from pots at the smallest stakes, and sometimes allowing for as little as 1% rake.

DoylesRoom has excellent financial backing and a spotless reputation. The site is endorsed and promoted by some of the largest names in poker, and no financial errors have been reported.

About Poker Stars’s Bonus:

DoylesRoom offers plenty of promotions; sign-up bonuses, a VIP points program, and a bad beat jackpot that pays out when a four-of-a-kind hand, with eights-or-better, loses in a cash game. Doyle himself plays in the  famous weekly bounty tournament where he is almost always accompanied by Mike Caro, Hoyt Corkins, and his son Todd.

DoylesRoom offers all new players a $660 sign-up bonus at 110% deposit match.

Bonuses pay out when the requirements have been met. The $660 sign-up bonus at a 110% deposit match pays out at a rate of 300 VIP points per $1 of bonus money, but only pays out when the entire bonus has been accounted for. For each real-money-hand played in ring games, 0.5 to 40 VIP points are awarded, depending on the rake that is dropped. For each $1 in tournament fees, 40 VIP points are guaranteed.

This bonus isn’t the only attractive promotion at DoylesRoom. Members players are eligible for there sign-up bonus as well as guaranteed tournaments, member tournaments, and a very nice VIP points program allowing members to exchange their VIP points for cash. The refer-a-friend promotion is worth $25 per invite.
